Eventration of the Diaphragm

Abstract
|
|
|
Eventration of the diaphragm is generally defined as a abnormal elevation of all or a portion of one diaphragmatic leaf. (1), (2) Its unbroken continuity differentiates it from diaphragmatic hearnia: It maybe congenital or acquired.
The purpose of this paper is to present author s experience with four cases of the eventration which were treated surgically during last 8 years period. Among the 4 cases, 3 were male, and one was female.
All of them had complete left sided eventration.
Two cases were infant suggesting congenital and remainders were adult whose possible etiologies were not clearly discernible.
Surgical repair of the eventration were performed by plication for the 3 cases and imbrication of the diaphragm for the rest one.
All cases are presented and results are outlined and discussed in ¢¥the context of previously reported -data from the literatures.
